Photograph with available light and lightning.
I am going to tell you how too photograph with different lights too get different effects on your photo.
When you're out photographing there is one BIG thing you have to think about, the light!
There are many different types of light which affects the picture in different ways. Like directional light and soft light.
There are also many types of light sources for example: the sun, a flash light or a lamp.
The lights direction is also different; you can get it from the sides, from above, straight on, from under etc.
When you're outdoors you can't control the light but in a studio you have equipment like lamps, lightning's, umbrellas, soft box etc. too set the light exactly where you want it too be.
Now I'm going to explain how too set the lights in a studio.
- You place the model or object you're about to photograph where you want it.
- Now it's time to adjust the light sources, from where do you want the light?
- When you've decided where you want the light o come from it's time too choose what type of light you want to use.
For step 3 there is a lot of different light's you can make in a studio.
With a flash you'll get a directional light which give's you a hard contrast meanwhile if you use an umbrella or a soft box with the flash you'll get a softer light which gives the picture a mild expression.
If you put a translucent object in front of the lightning the light will be soft, and if the object is in for example red the light will be red.
A reflector has its use on the other side from where the light comes from. The sentence with a reflector is too softening the hardness of the shadows formed by the flash.
- Now it's time to try and take a picture to see if the light setting is good.
- If you're unhappy with the light setting, you'll have too replace the lights direction and maybe try other varieties of light. If you are happy you can keep the settings and move on too try to photograph from different directions.
When you are outdoors and don't have the power to change the lights direction hard or softness you'll have to improvise, or wait until the lights change till the light you've planed to use. And too do that you have to think about some tricks.
- The background this time isn't in one color this time; it's the nature in thousands of different colors.
- You can, by move around, change a little bit from where the lights will fall on your model.
- A reflector can also be used here but it may not work as in a studio though the size of the light source is a lot bigger this time.
- And if you don't get the wanted results you'll just have to try and try until you'll get it.
That's all
